If I was snowed in for a couple of days the Rosa Alpina would be my ultimate bolthole. It’s cosy, but still minimalist and stylish. Romantic yet sophisticated, modern but unobtrusive. The design incorporates great thought and attention to detail. Service is so smooth you are hardly aware but at the same time your every need is taken care of. Owner Hugo Pizzinini has a face that lights up with a freshness and enthusiasm even if he’s having a bad day.
The beds and pillow and duvets are hard to leave. You want to have a shower, bath, steam and sauna but don’t know how to fit it all in. Then there’s the food: Michelin starred restaurant or pizza at the bar. Even breakfast is a tantalising delight. If I could afford it, I’d move in for the winter.
And of course my room would have a fabulous mountain view.
